But that model doesn't scale in a global B2B environment with 10,000+ products.

The fundamentals haven't changed—you still need the right product for the right application at the right price. But the execution has. And honestly, maybe that's a good thing. The $4,500 mistake forced us to rethink our process, and now our team catches errors before they become problems.

Take This With a Grain of Salt

I'm not saying the checklist is the answer for everyone. Our operation is mid-size—maybe 50 orders a month across pharma, coatings, and specialty chemicals. A larger company probably has automated systems that catch this stuff. A smaller company might not have the volume to justify the process overhead. But for teams like ours, in the messy middle where grown-up procurement meets real-world pressure, the checklist has saved us a lot of money and some embarrassment.
